Data+Women
Data+Women is an initiative aiming to offer women a community around their work in data where they can share their knowledge and their experiences, and where they can celebrate their successes. The initiative originated within the Tableau Community but is open to people from all data backgrounds.
Why just women?
It’s not just about women. Data+Women is aimed at people of all genders united under one common goal: advancing diversity in the data community. We want to offer a platform to all minorities – be that gender, age, language, ethnicity, academical background, or any other kind – so that they may find a secure foothold in the world of data, build their network, and discover opportunities. Emily Kund put it into the perfect words:
Should I join?
Are you a woman? Do you have a mother? A sister? A female colleague or neighbour? If you have answered any of these questions with Yes, you should definitely join Data+Women in our open discussion about how the data community will benefit from more diversity. We are the right community for you.
This is great! Where do I sign up?
I’m one of the co-leads of Data+Women Germany, so I’ll gladly offer our own chapter for you to join. If you’re living anywhere else in the world, chances are that there’s a chapter near you. And if there’s not, please feel free to reach out to me and we can have a chat about what it might take for you to start your own chapter.
(We call these chapters, but they’re actually independent from one another, and every chapter might live the spirit of Data+Women a bit differently from the others. We are very much aligned in our core values, though.)
